Bruce Spengler
Chairman of the Board
Bruce Spengler joined Calvert in 2002 after 18 years in general contracting including both building and heavy construction. He served in senior management and Vice President roles from 2002 through 2010, then ascended to the position of President as part of the company’s transition to 100% employee ownership, a position he held until 2024. Bruce is currently assisting the leadership succession at Calvert, and he maintains his role as Chairman of the Board.
Bruce graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, and his construction experience spans over 45 years. His extensive expertise includes management of contracts, construction engineering, meticulous planning, streamlined logistics, and skilled issue resolution. Bruce's steady and equitable leadership style resonates deeply within the organization, evident through the tenured staff at Calvert and our sterling reputation within the competitive Washington, DC construction industry.
Bruce's commitment to the industry extends beyond his role at Calvert. He has served as a Board Director at Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), American Subcontractors Associations of Greater Washington (ASA), and the Mid-Atlantic Masonry Association (MAMA). Bruce continues to teach for the ASA Project Management Workshop, and he is a mentor for the ABC Leadership Development Program.
Bruce is married with three grown children; he relishes his latest role as a grandfather.
