Project Overview
The Paramount at Reston, located directly adjacent to the Reston Town Center and within walking distance to library and medical facilities, is a 104 unit condominium high-rise community spread over 15 floors above grade and three parking levels below grade.
The lower floors of the façade incorporate monumental size Arriscraft smooth face architectural CMU units (simulating limestone). A combination of two different brick types are integrated with cast stone sills, heads and belt courses above the Arriscraft, incorporating recessed window jambs, recessed and projected bands, and lip shapes. The 9,000 square foot pool terrace, and the streetscape adjoining New Dominion Parkway, contain several hundred feet of straight and serpentine accent and planter masonry walls with cast stone copings. In all, over 400,000 brick, 10,000 monumental Arriscraft units, and 3,000 cast stone pieces were installed by Calvert Masonry on this project.
The site is bordered by two very active Reston community roadways, and is built on a steep hill, all of which presented delivery, storage and staging challenges for our masonry crews. Weather enclosures were implemented to accommodate a winter masonry schedule for the upper half of the building. All these challenges were overcome, and our firm is proud of our role in delivering this residential project to the Reston community.
